Taryn Dornseif awarded scholarship
We are excited to announce Taryn Dornseif as the 2026 Storm Sporting Events Scholarship recipient! Taryn is a recent graduate of Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota and will be continuing her education at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, where she will pursue her master’s degree in school psychology.
Her application stood out for her passion for supporting youth, her commitment to mental health, and her leadership as a student-athlete. Through her involvement in women’s hockey, campus leadership, mental health awareness, and youth-focused volunteer work, Taryn has shown a heart for helping others grow, thrive, and feel supported.
The Storm Sporting Events Scholarship is a $5,000 award created to support students pursuing careers in mental health, with a special focus on youth mental health.
This scholarship is made possible by every athlete who participates in Trinona and Trinona Kids. Thirty percent of all registration fees from those events goes directly into the scholarship fund, which means everyone who races with us has helped create this opportunity and has helped support Taryn as she takes this next step.

The Storm Sporting Events Scholarship fund is held at the Winona Community Foundation. The Winona Community Foundation helps individuals, families, and businesses meet their philanthropic goals by offering an array of charitable funds and gifting options while investing in the betterment of the greater Winona, Minnesota community.
