The Chisago Lakes Triathlon features the friendly Swedish communities of the
Chisago Lakes Area with Paradise Park offering an eagle eye’s view of the swim course.

DISTANCES

  • Sprint: .25 mile swim, 15 mile bike, 3.1 mile run

  • Olympic: .75 mile swim, 25 mile bike, 6.2 mile run

  • Half: 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike, 13.1 mile run


    • Swim cut off 88 minutes

    • Half Bike cut off 3 hours 48 minutes

    • Half Run cut off 3 hours 10 minutes

    • Cut off times begin at the start of your wave

AID STATIONS

The bike course has two aid stations at mile 25 and 47 with bottle exchange, water, Gatorade, simple carbs and medical supplies.


The run course has aid stations every 2 miles with water, Gatorade, simple carbs and medical supplies.

PRELIMINARY SCHEDULE

Saturday
  • 10 a.m.- 3 p.m. - Registration & packet pickup open. Chip pickup Sunday only.

  • 11:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. - Athlete meeting. Recommended you attend one meeting.


Sunday
  • 5:45 a.m. -6:30 a.m. - Registration & packet and chip pickup open.

  • 6:40 a.m. - Transition closes for all distances.

  • 7 a.m. - Start for all distances. Waves will be organized by distance and started in this order

    • Half

    • Olympic

    • Sprint

EVENT DETAILS


HALF IRON PARTICIPANTS ONLY can park across the street from Paradise Park at the Chuckie Lundquist Park. You must have your permit on your dash.  Permits will be emailed to you race week.


The swim is at beautiful Paradise Park at Chisago Lake in Chisago City. Waves will be assigned based on self seeding during registration Buoys mark the course. Keep the buoys to your right.


The bike course is rolling hills with a few larger climbs. Please stay to your LEFT when entering the tunnel from either direction. The bike course has two aid stations at mile 25 and 47 with bottle exchange, water, Gatorade, simple carbs and medical supplies.


The run course goes through charming residential streets with lots of community support. There will be aid stations along the course with water, Gatorade and simple carbs every 2 miles. Sprint run leg turnaround is at the school, Olympic run leg turn around is just after mile 3 on 275th Street. Half run leg turnaround is on Chisago Blvd at Maxwell Road. 


Participants will receive a t-shirt, finisher medal, swim cap, age group awards, and food after the event. 


RULES

1. Swim caps must be worn which we will be providing.

2. Helmets must be worn/securely strapped before leaving transition.

3. Relay chip hand off is at the cyclist's designated bike spot.

4.  No one but the athletes are allowed in the transition area.  

5.  Bib number must be worn on the run. 

6.  There is no drafting on the bike. Click here for details

7.  Secure chip tightly on your left ankle. 

8.   It is your responsibility to return the chip once you cross the finishline.

9.   It is your responsibility to  know the course.       


VOLUNTEER

Volunteer opportunities are available beginning Thursday through the day of the event.  It takes a great team of volunteers to create a top-notch event like the Chisago Lakes Triathlon. Volunteer sign up coming soon!

Tri-Clubs or Teams - If you can provide volunteers, please have them volunteer for registration and packet pickup the day before the event or the same roles on the morning of the event. 


Any energy left after the race? Clean up help is always needed too!

Who are we looking for?

  • Family and friends of the triathlon community

  • Community groups or clubs

  • Individuals that love to volunteer

AWARDS

  • Awards will go to the top three Female and Male in the Elite Division. 

  • Awards will go to the overall top three Females and Males in Half, Olympic, Sprint and Half & Olympic Aquabike Divisions. 

  • Age group awards will also be given to the top three Females and Males in five year increments starting with 15 and under, 16-19, 20-24, 25-29, etc up to 80-84 for the Half, Olympic, Sprint and Half & Olympic Aquabike divisions.

  • Top three overall male, female and co-ed relay teams in Half, Olympic, and Sprint divisions will also receive awards.
